Bridging the Gap: The Launch of the AUX-CGMA Ambassador Program

For a century, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) has stood as a beacon of hope and support, providing essential financial aid to the Coast Guard community in times of need. As we celebrate 100 years of dedicated service, we are proud to announce an exciting new initiative: the AUX-CGMA Ambassador Program. This innovative partnership between CGMA and the Coast Guard Auxiliary aims to extend our reach, ensuring that every member of the Coast Guard family is aware of and has access to the vital assistance we offer.

AUX-CGMA Ambassadors, coming from the trained, qualified cadre of Coast Guard Auxiliary Instructors, will onboard through an official Coast Guard Auxiliary SOP. These Ambassadors will act as CGMA’s spokespersons, delivering informative presentations in their local communities to educate our community about the financial resources available to them. This program thrives on the passion and dedication of volunteers who are committed to making a meaningful difference. By fostering awareness, the Ambassadors will effectively bridge the gap between those in need and the support CGMA provides.

Reflecting on the significance of this initiative, CGMA’s Chief Executive Officer, CDR Brooke Millard, USCG (Ret), expressed, “For over four decades, CGMA has proudly assisted Auxiliarists facing financial challenges. I’m thrilled to see this partnership enhance our outreach, enabling all eligible members to access CGMA support swiftly. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Auxiliary and our Ambassadors for their vital role in this endeavor.”

The development of this program has also been championed by past National Commodore of the Auxiliary, COMO Larry King, a steadfast supporter of CGMA. He remarked, “Recognizing that CGMA regards the USCG Auxiliary as integral members of the Coast Guard family, what better way to show our appreciation than by promoting awareness of CGMA’s invaluable services? As Ambassadors, we serve as Emissaries, ensuring the entire Coast Guard family knows about this remarkable, century-old, non-government-funded organization dedicated solely to helping those in need. Nothing could be more noble.”
