Since 1924, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance has helped the Coast Guard community take care of its own. Every donation helps CGMA provide direct financial assistance to Coast Guard members and families navigating financial challenges. CGMA does not receive government funding. We rely on the generosity of our community, along with loan repayments and investment income, to continue this important work.
Whether you make a one-time donation, begin a monthly allotment or choose another meaningful way to give, your support helps ensure CGMA can continue Helping Our Own.

Allotment/Payroll Deduction
Make your support last all year. During CGMA’s Annual Campaign, the Coast Guard community comes together to help ensure assistance is available whenever and wherever it is needed. Starting or increasing a monthly allotment is a simple way to provide dependable, year-round support for Coast Guard members and families.
Even a small amount each month adds up and strengthens CGMA’s ability to respond when it matters most.
Planned Giving
Your commitment to the Coast Guard community can make a difference for generations to come. A planned gift allows you to include CGMA in your long-term charitable or estate plans while considering the needs of your family and your own financial goals.
There are many ways to create a legacy. You may choose to include CGMA in your will or living trust, name CGMA as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy, recommend a gift through a donor-advised fund or explore a charitable gift that provides income during your lifetime.

Gifts of Stock
Donating stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities can be a powerful and tax-efficient way to support CGMA. When you transfer appreciated securities directly to CGMA, you may avoid capital gains taxes and could be eligible for a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the gift.
Meet your giving goals, enjoy potential tax benefits, and contribute to the change you want to see. That’s a triple-win.
How to donate stock:

Contact our Donor Care team at [email protected] or 703-875-0404 to request CGMA’s brokerage transfer instructions.

Ask your broker to transfer the shares electronically to CGMA’s brokerage account.

Notify CGMA of the stock name, number of shares, and expected transfer date so we can properly acknowledge your gift.

Retain your confirmation and acknowledgment letter for tax purposes.

Memorial or Tribute Gift
Celebrate someone special, honor a milestone or remember a loved one with a gift that supports the Coast Guard community. A memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to recognize a person’s life, service or connection to the Coast Guard while helping CGMA continue Helping Our Own.
How to make a tribute gift:
- Make you donation online or by mail.
- Select ‘Dedicate this gift’ and indicate whether your donation is being made in honor or in memory of someone.
- Provide the honoree’s name and, if you wish, contact information for the person or family you would like notified of your gift.
- CGMA will send a personalized acknowledgment recognizing your thoughtful gift.
Tribute gifts are a lasting way to celebrate service, honor legacy, and care for Coast Guard families.
