A Home Within Reach: CGMA Helps a Coast Guard Family Find Stability

Orders, Uncertainty, and a Costly Move

When PO3 Danny Ramirez received transfer orders to Long Island, his family felt both excitement and worry. The housing market near his new station was intense—upfront costs often exceeded $9,000 before move-in.

“The stress was taking a toll on all of us,” Danny said. “We worried about schools, commutes, and whether we’d even find a safe place to live.”

That’s when Coast Guard Mutual Assistance stepped forward through its Rental Assistance Program. A partial grant helped cover the upfront costs they couldn’t manage alone.

“This support made all the difference,” Danny shared. “It gave my family stability at a moment when we needed it most.”

With the help of CGMA donors and supporters, Danny’s family transitioned smoothly into their new community. His spouse could focus on the kids’ school, and he could focus on his duties—knowing his family was secure.
