CGMA is seeking five dedicated volunteers from within the Coast Guard family to help guide the organization’s mission and strategic direction.
Board members play a vital role in shaping policy, providing strategic oversight, and ensuring responsible financial stewardship that protects CGMA’s long-term stability and its continued ability to serve Coast Guard families.
This role offers meaningful leadership experience while contributing directly to the well-being of the Coast Guard community—now and for generations to come. For more than 100 years, CGMA has served as the official military aid society of the Coast Guard, providing essential financial assistance to members and their families in times of need. Serving on the Board offers the unique reward of knowing your efforts make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those who serve.
The CGMA Board of Directors includes twenty elected positions from a cross-section of various CG communities. Board members normally serve for a period of three years. Five positions will become vacant on 01 July 2026.
The 2026 vacancies are for the following positions:
- Retired Coast Guard Member (Senior Officer or Senior Enlisted – O5 & Above / E7 & Above)
- Reserve Member (Officer or Enlisted – any paygrade)
- Coast Guard Auxiliary Member
- At-Large Member (Civilian/Spouse/Retiree)
- At-Large Member (Open Category)
CGMA is particularly interested in applicants who bring expertise in nonprofit fundraising and donor cultivation, financial or accounting management, legal or compliance oversight, grant and program administration, and prior board or governance experience. These skill sets are essential to ensuring strong stewardship, strategic guidance, and sustainable organizational growth.
