CGMA on the Road

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is taking its mission on the road—meeting with Coast Guard members, families, leaders and volunteers in the communities where they live and serve.

These visits create opportunities to share information about CGMA assistance, answer questions and help more members of the Coast Guard community understand where they can turn when an unexpected need arises.

Connecting With the Coast Guard Community

Throughout the summer, CGMA connected with members of the Coast Guard community at several important events and locations.

CGMA participated in the CPOA Convention and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary National Training Summit. CGMA’s CEO and COO also visited the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Training Centers Cape May, Yorktown and Petaluma, where they spent time listening to and engaging with Coast Guard leadership and trainees.

Each stop provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships and bring greater awareness to the assistance available through CGMA.

Why CGMA Visits Matter

Coast Guard members and families may know CGMA by name without realizing the full range of support available to them.

By meeting with Coast Guard communities directly, CGMA can help attendees better understand:

• The types of financial assistance and family support CGMA provides
• Who may be eligible for assistance
• How to find and contact a local CGMA Representative
• How CGMA responds during personal emergencies, natural disasters and other unexpected hardships
• Ways to support CGMA and help fellow members of the Coast Guard community

These conversations also give CGMA an opportunity to listen. Hearing directly from Coast Guard members, families, leaders and volunteers helps CGMA remain responsive to the challenges facing the community.
