CGMA Welcomes New Members to the Board of Directors

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) proudly welcomes several new members to its Board of Directors—leaders and voices from across the Coast Guard community who will help shape the future of our organization and the services we provide.

Unlike many other nonprofits, CGMA is unique in that it is governed not by industry influencers, corporate executives, or outside funders—but by a Board of Directors made up of members who represent the Coast Guard community itself. Our Board includes active duty, reserve, retired, civilian, and family member representatives who ensure that the needs and perspectives of the entire Coast Guard community are heard and acted upon. This structure reinforces what truly sets CGMA apart: we are by Coasties, for Coasties

This deep connection exists because CGMA is the official relief society for the U.S. Coast Guard—each military service only has one. That designation is more than symbolic; it creates a relationship akin to a lifeline. When large-scale issues arise—such as payroll disruptions, PCS transitions, or housing challenges—the Coast Guard turns to CGMA first to help bridge the gap and care for its people.

The Board plays a critical role in identifying emerging needs and advising CGMA on new support initiatives. Recent examples include the PCS Incidentals Program and Education Advocate Grant which were developed in direct response to real-time feedback from those serving in the field.

New members joining the Board this term include:

  • CDR Krystyn Pecora, Commissioned Officer (O-5 & Above)
  • LT Pamela Manns, Commissioned Officer (O1–O4)
  • CWO2 Jerry Engelman, Chief Warrant Officer (W2–W4)
  • MSTCS Christopher Cauble, Chief Petty Officer (E7–E9)
  • PAC Richard Brahm, Alternate for Chief Petty Officer (E7–E9)
  • CSM2 Zachary Zuzack, Alternate for Enlisted (E4–E6)
  • LCDR Katharine Adams, Medical/TRICARE Specialist
  • Mrs. Abbigail McCracken, Enlisted Person’s Spouse
  • Mrs. Valerie Richards, Commissioned Officer’s Spouse

We also welcome CMC Jahmal Pereira as the Alternate for the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard in an ex officio capacity.

Their dedication to the well-being of Coast Guard families and their commitment to CGMA’s mission ensure that we remain Always Ready to meet the evolving needs of our members. Please join us in welcoming these outstanding individuals to the CGMA Board!
