« Return to NewsReady to support Coast Guard workforce during government shutdown
CGMA’s mission has been and always will be to support the financial resilience of the Coast Guard workforce. Once again, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is prepared to provide an interest-free loan to Coast Guard members and employees if they experience a lapse in pay due to a government shut down.
Assistance available:
- An interest-free loan up to the amount of one net paycheck (most recent deposit); maximum amount of $6,000
Who is eligible to apply for assistance:
- Active duty
- Reservists
- General schedule, full-time wage grade employees and full-time non-appropriated fund employees
- Spouses of deployed members may apply on behalf of the member.
How to apply:
- Eligible Coast Guard members and employees may begin applying Feb. 2 .
- Applications must be submitted online through the CGMA Portal.
- Members must provide proof of income amount with their application (ie. their most recent leave and earnings statement or direct deposit bank statement posted in 2026).
Because CGMA’s resources are limited, please explore interest-free payroll loan options if you bank with an accredited, service-oriented financial institution, such as USAA, Navy Federal, First Command, or SeaWest.
We know this period brings uncertainty, but CGMA’s mission remains steady. Together, we’ll stay strong, care for each other, and continue living our motto for you: “Helping Our Own®.”
