« Return to NewsLayette Packing Party with USCG Station Washington
Service members and families at USCG Station Washington recently came together for a lunch and a layette packing party in support of new and expecting military families. Volunteer military spouses, alongside members of the Station Washington, packed essential baby items including blankets, diapers, clothing, and care supplies to help ease the transition into parenthood for service members and spouses.
The event highlighted the Coast Guard’s enduring commitment to service, teamwork, and community support beyond mission operations. Station members traded duties for community outreach, working side-by-side with Coast Guard spouses to assemble dozens of care packages stuffed with the encouragement of hand-written notes and practical necessities.
The packing party not only provided valuable resources for growing families, but also strengthened camaraderie among participants. Through events like these, Station Washington continues to demonstrate that Coast Guard service extends beyond the waterfront and into the heart of the communities we serve.
