Supplemental Education Grant (SEG) Pauses

Preparing for Hurricane Season, CGMA Temporarily Pauses SEG – Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (mycgma.org)

Coast Guard Mutal Assistance Supplemental Education Program Update

Coast Guard Mutual Assistance will reinstate its Supplemental Education Grant (SEG) program on December 1, 2024, following the conclusion of the hurricane season.

The SEG program, a vital source of educational support for Coast Guard personnel and their families, was temporarily suspended on June 1, 2024, to redirect resources toward hurricane relief efforts. Recognizing the significance of continuous education and keeping with its long-standing policy, CGMA is committed to reimbursing all eligible educational expenses incurred during the calendar year beginning January 1, 2024, including those from the suspension period.

Eligibility Criteria for Reimbursement:
  • Enrollment and Course Participation: Must be enrolled in and taking courses at an accredited educational program.
  • Expenses: Reimbursement is available for eligible educational costs not covered by Tuition Assistance or other programs.

For further information on the SEG program and application details, please get in touch with your local CGMA representative.
